I listen to talk radio talk shows regularly and most are conservative but recently things are most bazaar.

The general consensus now is that:

Baseball players should be able to use illegal drugs and congress should not be investigating the abuses (relaxed drug laws).

The federal courts should intervene in the Shiavo case even though it's a state matter (Federal over states rights).

Soldiers in a combat zone should not be held accountable for alleged war crimes (it's not their fault, they are victims too).

Federal money should be spent on tobacco subsidies but not on health care for those people who got cancer from the promotion of tobacco (Promotes higher tax revenues from promoting poison and stifling health care).

The solution to the dwindling energy reserves is not by conservation but by cutting into the strategic reserves they originally saved for national defense and emergancy use (Keep those SUV's unregulated and guzzle more fuel not save gas).

Now today, that know-it-all Irish moron Shawn Hannigon or whatever his name is advocating the destruction of the principles of separation of power by forcing judges to be accountable to congress for interpreting the laws congress makes and preventing a congressional filibuster simply because it's a liberal agenda (totally unconstitutional).

Another mouthy moron Dr. Savage just publicly stated that the country would be far better off as a one party government and published a book "Liberalism is a Disease" (total fascism)

The list goes on.

I just can't see how any of these things are conservative or patriotic for a society that is preaching democracy and individual choice to the rest of the world.

What do "conservative" and "patriotic" have to do with "democracy"?

History shows that those advocating one party solutions hold communist views. Perverted perhaps but communist.

Those advocating military solutions hold facist views.

So far the only thing they don't advocate yet is the dictator.

The thing is though, that the US isn't a democracy, nor are any other so-called democracies throughout the world.
Democracy is a cunning lie that most people are more than happy to buy into and believe in.
We here all know this, or at least have a disturbing idea thats its all a thin facade held in place by the brainwashed millions.

Its only, bumpy and painful because of the actions of the leadership of a single country.

Not since Tom Delay has been shifting the rules on how bills can be introduced in congress. How many have recently been voted on that were drafted in a republican controlled commitee under the banner of emergency legislation so it can be voted on within 30 minutes? Some of these bills are 1000 pages or more.

A one party system is a nasty road to go down. Now the only defense the democratic party has is the filibuster. Now the republicans are screaming that it should be declared unconstitutional. Some even say it is. This does not bode well for America. I believe in a lot of conservative principles, but never one party rule.

No, it goes much deeper. We are truly a global economy now and it is the actions of many countries that are influencing the trend to parliamentary rule.

Should clarify here, one country that was then blindly followed by others who thought they too would benefit be acting like tyrants etc etc.
So this has now become the norm, and as more and more countries 'join up' it'll only get worse till we eventualy see a global civil war type thing.

The further left you go - the further right you become.

Let's not forget that a certain T. Blair was (in the mid 80's) :

Anti America.

Anti Nuclear.

Anti Europe.

Anti Big Business.

Anti Police.

He was a left wing wet dream - until he got elected and realised that those policies have no shelf life.

Savage is an idiot, not that I can name specifics, but each time I listen to him, which is rarely, I get outraged. Doctor? Too much professional student, not enough common sense.

genesound,

Lucky you don't live in the UK. The current Labour (Socialist) Gov't contains at least 3 card carrying members of the Communist Party (-at least they WERE in the 1970's.)

How would a communist reconcile their philosophy with the current 'Blair Administration' ?

As is the case with the majority of MPs, Blair is a lawyer by profession, therefore he can perform linguistic and ideological somersaults that most people could not even dream of.

Nevertheless - there is no excuse to fall for his lies ... so common sense would appear to be in equally short supply here.

Hopefully the election thingy in the UK last year will be replicated in the next general election over there and Blair will be out as George Michael.
At least its impossible for Bush to get back in.
