In preparation for shutting down SETI@home Classic (in about 1 month, hopefully) we're trying to make sure that SETI@home Classic accounts are linked to the proper SETI@home/BOINC account. This is a bit complicated because of email address changes. See our current transition plan.

Im sorry to hear that. Ive read over the Boinc Info and from all the problems Ive seen here with it, I doubt that I will continue. Oh well I think I can make it to 13th place anyway.:(

I would hate to see you leave the project. Sure seti 2 has had it problems, but so didn't classic when it first came out.
Give it a chance before you condemn it. With boinc you can run more than 1 project ( I'm running 3 projects right now ). so if 1 project has an issue you will still have work from the others, and your computer won't be sitting there idle.

Ok, I'm a dummy and lazy to boot. How do I get BOINC running for seti? Got it down loaded etc.
Kinda p.o'd that I've lost 5000 units in credit, but we must go on..........

Look for "attach project" under the Setting option.

Add einstein@home to BOINC. To be honest with you, given all the seti problems the last so many months I think I'm going to drop them once I hit my 5000 mark for seticlassic and just go with einstein@home.

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.
I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

You always do jm!!! My ol' systems are gonna miss cranking that command line out. I am boinc'n now, both Einstein and Seti, and Seti is still causing problems with transfers. Well at least I'm using the down time for something.

I hope they don't shut down classic until I can see what all of the systems can do. I still have about 9 new p4's to get setup. I'd like to run all of the systems for at least a week or 2 to see what they can do. It's going to be a real pain to get BOINC setup on all of the systems & be able to monitor all of them. Right now I use SETI MultiSpy to keep track of all of the systems. It helps me to catch problems sometimes even before the user notices anything wrong with their network connection or allows us to issue a restart, shutdown or wakeup remotely. I hope I can find something similar to this for BOINC so I can keep track of the 100 or so systems. Right now I have 89 systems running classic. They will consist of 33- P4-3.0HT, 40- PIII-933, about 20- P4-2.4, 2.6 & 2.8 systems & a dual PIII-933 & 2- dual Xeon 2.8 systems.

I always feel bad when I see someone excited about crunching with a Pentium.

And one of my first laptops, the first with a color screen, a P-66 with 4 megs (up graded to 8 megs!!!) of memory and a 260 meg hd!!!
Still have the puppy, and it works! Should try a wu on it and see if it can finish it before the end of the year..

I tried a WU on a 166mhz machine once. After running 24/7 for a solid 7 days the unit was somehow corrupted. What a waste of effort even setting it up.
