on my other computer I have an external Zip drive. I tried to set it up and when I installed the drives from the floppy drive the computer would just freeze. My hard drive is sperated in to c:, d:, e:, and f: the CD-ROM is drive G: Might this affect the installation of a zip drive. I also tried to install it on my computer where the A: drive is not working and it works because I insatalled it when the A:drive was functioning. I don't use it anymore because I have the CD-R connected but when it is connected the computer designates it as Drive E: and my regular CD-Rom is drive E: when the Zip is not connected so when it is connected the regular CD-ROM changes to drive F: and the cD-R stays at D: Is this normal? Can you help with the other computer where it freezes?

Also my frien is having a problem with his Computer. It seems that when he starts windows 98 an alert pops up and says

"invalid command line parameter"
and the window in which the message appears in s is titled "windows registry checker"

he just presses ok and it goes away but it is really annoying and he wants to know how to gt rid of it. Any suggestion???

Thanx a lot!!!

I can't offer any help with Zip drives, but maybe with the startup problem.

Try doing a selective startup with msconfig (Start Menu/Run/msconfig) and try to isolate the problem there.

Here's MSKB article that you can refer to: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q192/9/26.ASP

Maybe someone else has some ideas on these problems...

Once you get it to work, there's a program on iomega's website that allows you to select which drive to set the zip to. Mine kept changing the cdrom to E and the zip to D. Then I installed the program and the zip stays on E now with the cdrom on D.

Hi michelvelz,
Is it USB or parallel?
Did you put in tools zip disk before installing zip drive?
After setup mine acted strange too, I clicked on Iomega tools/parallel port accelerator and now looks like ok, but when I highlighted file(~4mb) on zip disk, mouse slighty froze till generated file preview, then ok again, I don't know or its normal.

And when I want to restart in MSDOS mode, I get:
>looking for drive letter for Iomega drive< and stays that-cursor flashing- I don't get anymore:
C:\Windows>
Didn't figured out how to fix that.

You might try installing by executing 'GUEST95.exe' rather than setup.exe
