I have been trying to install two 64mb dimm memmory units into the Mother board. The edo ram has been removed and the rn4 resistor strip has been moved to the rn1 position. However the system will only recognize 32mb of the installed 128. The mother board is version 3.37 and the bios is v2.5. What have I not done?? Thanks

I'm kinda dense at times so let me try to get this straight.

Are you saying the system had x amount of edo memory (SIMMs) installed and this RNx resistor strip (sorry, first time I heard of it) is to be repositioned to accept the two newer 64MB DIMMs?

And of course it only 32MB is registering.

You know, some here is bound to know what's going on. I've seen posts of similar problems (exact, beside the board manufacturer) like this in the past. I'm sorry to say I didn't pay attention to them, however, they were eventually all answered.

So don't give up on us Denise. Maybe it'll help to give some more detail that may come to your mind regarding this.

Which Gigabyte GA-586xx (xx is what?) model is this by the way?

Take the dimms completely out, then try swap them around. Make sure there in the slots firmly, as in give them a decent push. If this doesn't correct your problem, you have a bad dimm. Good Luck.
