My system specs:
Asus p5a,Diamond Riva tnt
Diamond M 3d-2
Sound Blaster 128
Internal Diamond Supra Modem

There are all kinds of problems that have started occurring since modem was added:
trailing windows, midi sound files playing strangely, modem sometimes may have problems connecting.
Windows 98 may freeze and need to be cold rebooted. But Windows 98 will not show any conflicts with all of these internal devices. Should I remove the internal modem and go with External type? USB modem?
What do you think the problem is?

I would suggest to isolate the problem. First, remove the soundblaster 128 and reboot the machine. If the computer reboots fine, the soundcard is taking more than one irq settings conflicting with the other peripherals. Keep the trial and error until you can identify which one of the peripherals is conflicting. An external modem will be a good idea or an isa modem or isa soundcard.

Check for conflicts in the device manager /forum/smile.gif
