i hope this starts a new trend. i hate how all the new cards aren't for AGP anymore. i put a lot of money into an Athlon 64 939 AGP system less than 8 months ago. then freaking Intel had to ruin it all and make a new standard for graphic cards.

Hopefully AGP will stick around for quite a while yet. :D

i also want to see what people think of PCI-e. poll it. :t

Do us a favor and start posting in the correct forum. And another thing, stopping saying this and that with out any links or proof. Example: AMD comes out with 4GHz 64bit chips.

I think pci-e is a good idea but we’re just not using the bandwidth yet. I personally just spent $400 on a new agp card so I’m not going that route any time soon.

I think agp will be around for a while. There’s only a handful of cards that only come in pci-e flavors and half of them will be available in agp not far down the road.

dual PCI-e slots in SLI for nvidia is where the bandwidth is really used. There is a lot of communication between video cards in this technology and that is why there isn't exactly twice the performance of one card. However, since PCI-e does use this technology, I think that PCI-e does have a future.

I dont see why they dont incorporate a AGP slot onto PCIe mobos for those of us who cannot afford to buy a new mobo AND vid card at the same time. Bad marketing if you ask me.

So far the only thing PCIe offers is video cards.... and for a single card AGP meets or beats their performance so long as both formats are available.. 6800 Ultra's are a point, doesn't matter which format, they both perform well. ATI, smart folks like they aren't, doesn't offer a 850 series in AGP. Please take note that ATI has released their own Motherboard chipset, 200 PCI Express, which is a PCIe only chipset. so it is in their interests to push PCIe Video cards.

SLI is a dual card solution, very few games have features to use those advantages. I believe there is a 6600Gt SLI solution, that might be affordable in some peoples wallets, but since most apps can only take advantage of a single card at the moment, you would be better off using that money for a top end single card

I guess I am just not a PCIe fan....it will get better sometime, but it's not there now.
