I love soccer, so I just ordered Winning Eleven 8 and a logitech wireless controller. i played fifa 2003 till i owned every difficulty level and the AI was just so bad. the game was hecka fun, but needed work. after reading reviews and playing the demo I decided to go for Winning Eleven 8. Does anyone have it?

I do!

Over here in England it's called Pro Evolution Soccer 4. I have it for the PS2.

It's by far the best football game ever.

Good to hear a favorable Sysopt review. The demo is pretty sweet, but tough with the keyboard. I played FIFA 2003 using the keyboard all the way up to the 3rd difficulty, at which time I just couldn't advance using the k/b.
Does the game have any glaring faults or really bad AI issues?

it <expletive deleted> all over over fifa, I reckon. The AI is much more difficult, and you can't just do those insane 50-yard over-head kicks like Fifa. It's very realistic, whilst still being lots of fun.

The thing with Pro Evo is that it takes ages to master all the controls, but is easy to get into. I've played it with one of my house-mates for hours on end when I first got it and we got such a rush when we managed to score.

The best thing about the new one is it's a bit quicker and a few stupid errors from the previous one were removed (specifically problems with accidental handballs and errors in the offside rules). Overall, it's a near-perfect game. As long as you football, that is.

Definitely get a controller though.

Sounds good man. I can't wait for Newegg to get it here. Hopefully by Saturday. But I'm thinking Monday.
To keep me saitsifed until then I am playing the FIFA 2005 demo on my keyboard. i score about once every 3 games. it sucks. FIFA has a big problem that is still not fixed.....it is called "catch-up AI". after i score a goal, my oppoenents skill jumps up a ridiuclous amount. in the next 1-2 minutes, the chances that they will score are like 2 out of 3 times. no kidding. i work my **** off to score, then the opponent puts in a quick one. it frustrated me hardcore.

yeah, it's bad. I've never liked any Fifa games. i gave up trying them out a while ago. Before pro evo (and it's previous incarnations) the only football game i liked was sensible soccer.

I've got the hang of it now, but the lack of licenses really really is a bummer. it doesn't feel authentic at all with Manchester United wearing these plain red shirts. i am downloading a 700MB patch that makes the game 100% accurate in all areas. can't wait till it's done. my cable is super slow so it'll be done in about 3 more hours. it's been going for 5 so far.
are you playing on PS2 or PC?

I am now hooked as well. I am getting the hang of crosses and that kinda stuff. I downloaded a patch that made the game 100% authentic. All real names, team logos, stadiums, correct attributes. it's got the quality of FIFA now, but with the WE:8 gameplay. It's so sweet!
