Make sure that it is also attached correctly on the MB.(pin1+red stripe)
Check the bios settings and make sure that floppy A is set as a 3 1\2 inch drive.
Also make sure the floppy controller is enabled .

Did the floppy work before or is this a new installation? Is the Bios set for the proper type of drive (1.2 / 1.44 )? Is it connected to the proper connector on the data cable (usually the end connector after the twist)?
Did you install any new hardware that may be conflicting with the drive (check device mngr.)?

Just some things to start with.

Yes it was working when before I installed the CD-R and I've checked the BIOS and everything is setup correctly. I don't know what it could be. I'm pretty sure it's not the Drive itself. The computer is only 6 months old. What else do you guys think it could be?

Enable boot up floppy seek in the bios and see if it picks it up. Also, Windows is by default set to look for a floppy on each start. Check your power connection on the floppy as well, and double check the floppy cable while you are in there. You may have killed it, but I doubt it.

Michelvelz,

Underclocked has just given you some very sound advice. I can only say the same thing. I cannot begin to count how many cable problems I have seen - like having the cable on only one row of pins on the motherboard.

And I have personally killed a couple of floppy drives by hooking up the cables in haste.

I think the first thing that I would try
is unpluging the CD-R and see if floppy operation returns to normal. If it does, then there is a conflict somewhere. Is the CD-R connected to the primary or secondary IDE channel? Does it or the floppy function properly after boot-up. If the floppy was working before and you didn't unplug it when you installed the CD-R, then I would recheck the data cable for proper installation, since you switched the cable.

I once installed a scanner adapter card in a computer using an A-Trend Mobo w/ a PII-350, and it caused a similar problem. I did not get the error message at boot, but it would not read disks. It would give me a "Disk not formated" message. It did not have an int. setting, but it did have about 6 address choices. I tried all, with the same results.
I couldn't find the conflict, but A-Trend said that is exactly what was happening. I installed the adapter in another computer with a different mobo, and it worked just fine. ???

Sorry for the multiple posts, I kept getting an "Internal Server Error" message when I was trying to submit it. Is there any way for me to delete them?
