I've just built myself a new system with an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo inside an Antec Sonata case, into which I've put an Akasa paxpower 400w PSU (ultra quiet 18dB).

Everything runs extremely smoothy but the fans never slow down, even when the computer is idle. I've updated to the latest bios (1004), enabled the AMD Cool n' Quiet feature, installed the driver and set the system to operate on the minimum power...which sees the CPU drop from 2200 to 1000 and the CPU voltage go from 1.3750 to 1.0750 when the system is idle.

My temperature at the moment under normal load is 37c/98f on the CPU and 36c/96f on the motherboard. CPU fan running at 1339, chipset fan at 8035.

I want to leave my computer on while I'm sleeping...what else can I do?

...a very tired wahrez.

Are you using the SLI feature or no?

So where's the noise coming from - the one video fan?

I have no idea its driving me mad.....i think its just a combination of the 5 fans.....PSU, Processor, Graphics Card, Chipset and Chasis fan. (I have disconnected the chasis fan and its still noisy) My concern is that even under minimal load and extremely low temperature they don't seem to slow down.

They won't slow down unless they are designed to - like some PSUs.

Take a paper towel tube and use it to isolate the loudest sounds.

you also might want to try putting rubber spacers on your fans on your case and your powersupply mounts. That might make the difference in noise you are looking for. By any chance, do any of your case fans have leds? If so, one of the leds might be pushed out of place far enough that the fins on the fan are hitting it making noise, if that is the case, all you have to do is push the light back in and your golden.
