HD incorrect on bootup

I have an IBM 6.4gb hdisk. It is set on auto in cmos but on bootup it shows the size at 4.4gb. The drive is fine otherwise.

Partition magic does show it as 4.4gb and reports errors. Any clues please?

try setting the hard drive settings manually in your bios. If it still gives you trouble your bios maynot support large drives

Solutions:

1.) update your bios to the latest version

or

2.) install a ez-drive utility which fools your bios into thinking its a 4.4 and not a 6.4 but tells all other programs its a 6.4. Download it from IBM they may have it.
