My brother's computer, which I built, recently started coming up with an error on boot up, the pc still works just fine however the error is still there, after post and ram count it says "error, cpu changed or overclocking failed press delete to enter setup or f1 to continue" if he presses f1 the computer boots just fine and works like always... i've never seen this error before and I checked the bios settings and everything seemed correct, the system is as follows:
epox 8rga+
1 gb pc2100 ddr
xp2500+
g4 ti4600

have done no overclocking or anything fancy with it, its just a internet pc for him and occasionally some games, been working fine for a good year at least now and just started happening... last thing done to it was norton anti virus was installed but its installed a few days and the pc been shut off and turned back on in that time period... i am stumped!

Check the BIOS for the section where you set the CPU FSB (front side bus) setting.

Select to "disable speed error hold" and the error will go away.

Been there, done that on Abit mobos for years now.
