Greetings to All.. :t
Heres a few things I've tried...
#1 I can't seem install XP Home (SP2) on the single SATA 60GB Maxtor,,, When it ask for the VIA 8237 SATA DRIVERS after the the F6 promp it hits the floppy then goes on installing XP... Then when Windows tries to start the first time the nasty BLUE Screen of Death appears telling me it has stopped to prevent damage to my computer and gives a different error every time I try to install XP..? The M/B company told me I do not need two SATA drives, that can I install to a single SATA drive and Boot from it... I had the same problem with a Abit KV7 with 2x 60GB Samsung 8k SATA's, the local Computer Shop said it was a bad Serial Controller on the board & its on its way back RMA to Califorina...
#2 After it hits the floppy it loads the via drivers for the 8237 chipset, then it has me select the VIA Drivers for XP... Then it tries to startup Windows "BAMM" the old BSOD with random problems... Header error, Line error, Windows has stopped loading to prevent damade to your computer...
They sugggest a memory and hardware check, which I've already done... These first two boards never show the 60GB Maxtor anywhere at anytime execpt in the RAID setup, not in the BIOS at all... I do have the OnChip IDE Device (Enabled)... My manual shows a line in it that's not in the BIOS, "SATA Mode (IDE)" does not show up as the first line under OnChip IDE Device..?
#3 I just setup a Soltek SL-K8T-PRO-939 with a Winchester 3000+90nm, a gig of Corsair 3200, ATI 9250 128mb, 2x Samsung 80GB SATA drives, it fired right up took the drivers off the floppy & setup XP "BAMM" what a breeze... But it shows the 2 SATA Samsungs in the BIOS config screen right after the memory check...
So any help you might contribute in resolving my problem would be greatly appreciated... GBT...
