Outlook Problem

Hey guys, i just formatted my laptop. I backed up my outlook .pst file to keep all my previous mail and settings and what not. After i installed it and loaded the pst file I now have 2 "Personal Folders" under All Mail Folders. Both with the same exact stuff in them. Is there anyway to delete one of them so i dont reciever emails twice, once in each folder. Let me know.

Looks like Outlook 2003.
Right click on the top folder (Personal Folder)_you don't want...click on disconnect.

Should be bye bye from there.

It doesnt give me that option, or any options similar to that. I still cant figure it out :(

Is this the set of folders your mail is delivered to (Default Mail store)..if so, you won't be able to disconnect them.

Tools, Options, Mail Setup Tab, Email accounts. View or Change Existing Email Accounts, Next.

On the bottom left of this window...you'll have an option to decide which folder set to have email delivered to. I'd bet if you change it here...you'll be able to disconnect that other set of folders.

I have actually tried that. Thats the first thing I tried, because i read it on the Microsoft website for Outlook help folder. I have set both of those to the default folder and neither of the ones that arent set to default have any options for disconnecting or removing the folder. Its the weirdest thing. My next step is to maybe try to remove the .pst file and start outlook, then it wont see any .pst and there will not be any Personal Folder. But who knows what will happen after that. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I think you hit nail on the head. Do you know which of the PST folders is the one you actually use?

I'd move it alltogether.

Then...as said, when it tries to open, point it to the new location.

Also...have you tried running the office repair tool.

Click on help, and you should be able to go from there...

Hey, yes i do know where it is located. And im going to try it once i get out of class...

C:\Documents and Settings\"user"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook


No i havent used that repair before. That will be my next step if this .pst move doesnt work..thanks for responding :)
