Could anybody explain to me what is a RCA port and what would be it's functions on a sound card?

If you look on the back of a home stereo tape deck, where the cable goes from the tape deck to the amplifier/reciever are 'RCA' jacks. It doesn't mean they are made by RCA, but RCA started the design way back when...

They are commonly used for audio signals as well as video signals. You can see them on the back of some computer video cards and on VCR's. On most PC sound cards, they use 1/8 inch mini stereo plug jacks instead of RCA's, just to save space for all the connections it supports.

They are used to connect speakers and stereo amplifiers to the PC or other devices.

Hope this clears things up a little.
