I installed win 95 first, then i got the win98 upgrade and now i have the win 98 full version.
my question is this,..
If i now reformat my drive C, will the start up disc i made for win 98 (upgrade) work, so that i can install win 98 (full) without installing win 95???

Yes. No problem. But you can do this with the W98 upgrade cd too. The only difference is that prior to the install, the setup program would look for your prior version of windows, and not finding it, allow you to insert your w95 cd in the drive to verify that you owned it.
Before you wipe your drive, make sure that your w98 sartup is properly loading your cdrom drivers.

Here's how I installed win98 without installing win95.
Insert win98 startup disk
Put win95 cd in the cdrom
Start the PC
When prompted for cdrom support push enter(YES)
When you recieve the a:\ type c: enter
At the c:\ prompt type md_win95 enter
At the c:\ prompt type cd_win95
At the c:\win95 prompt type e:\ enter
At the e:\ prompt type copy_e:\win95_c: enter
After the files are extracted you will recieve the e:\ prompt insert your win98 cd type setup push enter
E:\ might not be your drive letter in this mode.It might be F:\ so try different letters till you find the cdrom drive letter.
Win98 will start the setup but will not find the win95 files it needs to copy onto so click browse.Find win95 file on c:\win95 click Ok Setup will take over then you will have win98 setup on your pc without going through the installation of win95.What your doing is tricking win98 into thinking win95 is installed

You don't have to trick Setup into thinking win 95 is installed because it does not care. All you have to do is show it that you have a copy & it will be happy. The upgrade is still a full version. Microshaft just want to make sure you have paid for '95(or 3.1) before letting you have '98 at a cheaper rate.

krusty is about right! microsoft just wants you to pay for everything !
The only difference between the upgrade and the full version is the serial no:
And that applys to 95 & 98.
If you know some one that has 98 installed. make a boot disk from their comp
and you should be able to install 98 full version over the top of your existing version without losing anything .
