Thanks.... MrEd 08-18-1999, 03:15 AM I think you can just delete your "LOGO.SYS" file in your C:\Windows\System,(I think that's where it is...) But you may want to wait until someone else here confirms, or denies, that option. I'm not sure if registry changes need to be made or not. -MrEd http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Carl Uman 08-18-1999, 02:42 PM I beleive that MrEd is right. There is a registry hack also but there are programs out that will let you turn this off. Winhack if the only one that I can think of. Let me know if you can't find it and I will email it to you (I think it is shareware if I remember right). emcron 08-18-1999, 02:59 PM All you have to do is find msdos.sys on your system, open it with notepad and add logo=0 this if its not there already. AuraEdge 08-18-1999, 03:30 PM I think Tweak UI, WinAdmin, adn PowerUp will all let u do it I think. I use Tweak UI, and for in 95, you need to download this utility. ) www.download.com (http://www.download.com) then type Tweak UI in the search Box) hesscomputer 08-18-1999, 07:38 PM Logo.sys is written in the IO.sys. As long you don't install MSPLUS then you will not find a file called LOGO.SYS on your computer. If MSPLUS is installed then the file can be found in the ROOT folder this would be C:\ The file has hidden attributes and also read only and system. If you delete this file then the original LOGO.SYS will take action again, the one which is integrated in IO.sys Workaround if MSPLUS isn't installed: 1.emcron just wrote it.No need to use No.2 2.create a new file *.txt or whatever ,don't put anythings in to it name it LOGO.SYS make it Hidden and readonly and system and copy it to C:\ that's all. You will get a black screen while booting. You can also make a BMP size 320x400 and name it logo.sys will do exactly the same. Be sure that the filesize isn't over 129Kb and that the bitmap is 16 Colors only. GB 08-18-1999, 07:56 PM . Do a start, find, file & folders do a search for logo. Make sure the "look in" is in the C root directory. And if you don't want it, then delete it. It can be in the windows/system directory and also in the C root directory too. [This message has been edited by Nathan (edited 08-18-99).] Zak 08-19-1999, 01:09 AM Thanks ,to all who responded.... I appreciate it.. :-) grandslammer 08-19-1999, 03:37 AM You know, if you don't want the startup log, i wouldn't delete it, you may get a wild hair later and want it back. If you're not going to just modify your msdos.sys file by making the value =0, then just find the logo file, and rename it. But, if it's still in the msdos.sys, then your machine will look for it anyway, right? So, I'd just go to find files like someone said earlier, type in msdos, (search in my comp) right click on the file, go to it's properties, uncheck the read only box at bottom, apply, ok, then left click on msdos.sys. You may have to specify what to open it with, in which case you can do it with notepad. Then just scroll down to the line Logo=1 and change it to Logo=0. Click on file/save, and you're done. Now right click on msdos.sys file and specify read only (remember the little box?) Then sew it up and apply cold compresses for two to three days. Tylenol as necessary! Also programs like Nuts & Bolts has an option for turning it off, or changing it. C 'ya, Mike P.
