My mobo alarm was going off again when I was rendering. I know rendering uses alot of CPU and GPU but the alarm went off for like, 1 second and then stopped. Like I said my alarm has gone off randomly before, even when the temp is not up to the setting specified in the bios.
What IS a safe temp for an Athlon 64 3000+ NewCastle?
And does the temp sensor work for the vid card too? Maybe why it went off while rendering?

possible
there are 2 type of alarm
the Case temp alarm
and the CPU temp alarm
try to find out which on
the thing is, keep your case cool
then you will never hear it again
safe temp is 75c for CPU

Hm... My temp is 58*C idle. I didn't know my case had an alarm... How do I figure out which one is going off if they both go through the PC speaker?

Dust accumulation inside maybe? Have you rendered in past w/o issues?

You have to look at the monitoring software when the alarm goes off and see which ones in the red. 58C at idle is high already for idle temp. It goes up when you put a load on the CPU. Make sure you have everything cleaned out and the ribon cables not blocking the flow to the fans to start with.

Make sure all the fans are working and not slowing down. Cleaning out the dust makes a big difference.
You can remove the case side cover during rendering to see if it improves . Perhaps add a house fan to blow into the case. The bios alarm can be disabled usually , if not set it to about 70c .
A well cooled case and A64 3000+ should run 40-50c idle. Perhaps you should look at better cooling options.

I can't imagine AllGamer , you condone such temps , regardless what AMD says...;)
