I'm going to be unpgrading a computer and adding a HD to it.

The Drive that's in there, is a C: but the new one, which hasn't been formatted or anything, is also a C:

I read somewhere that there might be a conflict with that when I put them both in. Is it possible? Are there any procedures I should do before adding the second one?

When you set an active partition is it inscribed somewhere on the hard drive or is it solely a BIOS feature?

Thanks;~)

When you install the second HD, a new drive letter will be assigned to it. Most likely D: or E: depending on what letter is assigned to your CD-ROM.

One thing to keep in mind is that you will need to set the jumpers on the new drive. This may be the possible conflict you mentioned. If you are installing the drive on an Ide channel that has no other drives, set it to master. If it is a second device on the channel set it to slave.

The active partitions are setup in fdisk. Format the new drive and set the partions to your liking using fdisk. Just type fdisk at the dos prompt.

Good luck!
