are you using the updated version of the media player that was available for download?

I get the message:

"MMSYSTEM277 a problem occurred in initializing MCI, try restarting windows"

when ever trying to play a *.dat video file. This is on a win95 (B version) Pentium 200mmx machine w/128 megs of ram and 7 gig HD.

Any ideas why??? I restarted win & same error. I removed & re-installed multimedia/media player from add/remove prog, but same error!!!

It plays fine on my AMD 350 running win98.
Any advice appreciated.

i'm not sure about win98, but with win95 i need to install intel's indeo codec to get support for some types of video. check out intel's website or write back if you can't find it.
