I reformated my HD and set a seprate 1.4GB partition. I went to put the swap to it and windows wouldn't let me. Said I had to have 5GB's more space on the drive then I set the swap. I tried to set it anyway. When I was done, it just went back to windows managing it dynamicly.
I wonder if I'm doing somthing worng? Is there a certain trick to getting it to work?
Now I have windows managing my swap on "C" drive, with a 1.4GB empty partition. Thanks. Chris.

Set a fixed size for the swap file like 1000/1000. Don't forget to press the "Set" button.

Be sure that the partition is actually formatted. NTFS is best.

I see what's going on now. When I set the swap file to 1000, 1000, it made it work, but it has two page files. One on the C Drive and another on D Drive. It did't switch to the D, it added it. Now I have two, huge TOTAL Swap. One 768, the other 1000, for a total of 1,768. Not what I had in mind.
I have a 16GB partition, a 1.4GB Partition, and a 22GB unpartitioned space. Can I delete the D Partition in to the biger one to get rid of it in XP? Chris.
P.S. Should of known managing your own swap file was overrated. Gates was right.

So set the swap file on C: to zero/zero and press Set.
