Hello all, I have a pretty important question, I have a dell laptop with windows 2000 and xp professional on it. The problem is I got this computer by chance. A friend of mine was using it at my house and left it here, then the next day there was a terrible fire and my friend and all the cd's to the pc are gone. Well I have the laptop and it has windows 2000 set up to dual boot with windows xp pro. It is set up to boot into windows 2000 but I do not have the right passwords to do anything, except turn it on. What I want to do is buy a copy of windows xp home and do a clean install of it.Can this be done without being able to get past where it say's please enter password, and not being able to log in to windows 2000? It's a dell latitude d600 computer. Could someone please help me with this so I don't have to use it as an expensive paperweight??
Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

If it's a BIOS password, it's going to be hard to clear.

I only have windows me on my pc, but I do have a copy of windows xp, can this be used to boot the pc? **** it, the person who used to help me with a lot of computer problems is deceased, can I boot the pc with an xp disc even though it is set up to start with windows 2000 nt. Except for the pc itself, I'm still waiting for a power supply unit I ordered, that is all I have.
Thank's anyway.
