I just installed my new Diamond MX300 sound card. I was replacing a SoundBlaster PCI64. However, ever since I replaced it boot's up past the windows loading screen.. then a cursor blinks on the screen for about 45 seconds before it goes to my desktop... I've reinstalled the drivers already! any ideas? thanks a bundle

Hi probably win negotiating settings for it - service 'Configuation Manager' - If you can get hold of Hware Diag from Microsoft it will show you
which resoourses are being relocated and where.
TIP
Remove the Sounbalster Software - and shut down. Take out the old card. Rboot don't install the new card - then have HWare wiz isntall the new card -(windows will also remind you) Shut down THEN insert the new card
Installing - notes
Windows needs to install a 'virtual' card before the real one is in the system. SO be sure to go through all the steps to do that THEN shut down and place the real card in a slot, power up.
Reboot.
Watch out for settings - if Windows auto sets the new card to weird settings - IRQ DMA Base ADD - Does the card accept these settings?
Default settings for the industry used be
'BASE ADD 220h IRQ 5 DMA 1 and DMA 5.
Final comment if you've a config.sys and autoexec.bat on your machine which were there before Win installed then make certain EITHER A to delete em while in windows OR B add the correct lines to the files as advised by the new card documentation.
Hope that helps

I would also try a safe mode boot. Go into device manager and delete the sound blaster card, that's if it's still in there. Then try it.
