How can I run Norton av in safe mode? A friend has got several viruses so I told him to run his norton in safe mode as it cant delete them whilst running windows.
He tried starting in safe mode and going to his norton av in the program files menu but it wouldnt start giving an error message. Will try to post error message when he mails me back.

Is this the correct way to start and scan in safe mode?

Thanks.

That is the correct way to run it in safe mode. Post the error message, and we might be able to help more.

A virus or trojan might have taken over
Norton .. it happened to me once.

Easy way to try and fix it is get a copy of
AVG Free ... www.grisoft.com .. Install it,
boot up in Safe Mode, get Latest Defs,
disconnect from internet & then let the
scan run .. it will probably find and fix
your problem.

i Agree

to go into windows safe mode

when you boot your PC
right after the BIOS screen
hit F8 really fast many times

until Windows gives you the option to Select Save Mode No Networking
