I have been using this joystick for a year now with no problems, running the latest software (3.02) from Microsoft. Lately my computer does not recognize the joystick? So sometimes I will remove it from the control panel and then re-install it and it is ok. But the last few times it won't recognize it. But if i just install it as either a custom or standard joystick it recognizes it every time.(And I have the switch on the front in the correct position)
Anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks

What kind of sound card are you using?

I have the same problem on one of my systems with a Diamond Sonic Impact, MS says the chip on that particular card is incompatible with the OS! It works about half the time I try it. I gave up on using it in my gaming PC and bought SB cards from then on.

I have been having the exact same problem. If I set it as the sidewinder 3d pro in the control panel it would not see it, but I changed to the ch flightstick pro and it worked great. Only the four buttons on the base of the controller didn't work. I then downloaded the latest drivers from microshaft's website and tried again, and it worked. However it acts strange sometimes. Maybe 10% of the time when I boot up the joystick is not recognized, and I simply unplug it, plug it back in and reboot and it works. It is strange, but I am able to live with it. By the way I am using a Diamond sonic s90 sound card which might be the problem as previously mentioned.....

I am using a Sound Blaster PCI 128 and Win98.
It's now working again, but for how long, who knows?

I never had the problem with the SB PCI128, which I used for a short while before buying the SB-Live.

Could be something else, like a bad pin connection on the plug or the cable is defective.
