I was given a pc that has XP pro installed and informed that it was messed up and had problem. When I fired it up I get a message that HWXCHT.DL_ is corrupt and then it locks up. I did a google and found this file is in I386/LANG. IS there away to repair this file, or is it reinstall time?

Previous owner is disorganised and the disk, key etc are lost.

Sounds like you will be buying a WinXP CD on ebay this week.

Reinstall is the only way to go.
