Hi, I just recently purchased a Iomega zip drive and my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize it. I installed the software and even fooled around the config.sys but it still doesn't seem to be able to find it. It's plugged in correctly too. Can anyone help me?

The only thing I can think of is for you to make sure that the Zip Drive is on and that there is nothing wrong with your pararell port.

Try changing the specs for the the parallel port in the BIOS.

Is the assumption correct, that it is an external ZIP? Please provide more details as to what you have done in your attempt for the system to recognize it. If its external, you should change the BIOS to ECP or EPP as Susan suggests.

When you say "Can't find it" do you mean the installation program fails, or is there no letter for it in Windows after it is installed?
Make sure the parallel port is set to 'Auto' or ECP.
What OS?
If NT and drive letters are mapped, the thing wont show up unless you rename a drive to clear the letter immediately in the next physical drive position from the hard drive(s), so if you have 2 partitions on one drive, say C and D, then the D letter will need to be available unless you have 2 drives, then the letter E will be used.
It labels itself as the first letter after the first partition of any physical drive, and ignores logical drives, so the letters will conflict. I see this at work more than a few times a week.
Did that make sense?
