Can someone please save what hair I have left by helping me install a USB mouse under Win98SE?
The MB (SOYO-71zb)has two USB connectors to which I have connected a header to the rear panel. Device Manager indicates that the USB controller and Root Hub are correctly installed. USB is enabled in the BIOS and the Intel utility tells me that my system is USB ready in both the O/S and hardware areas, BUT, when I plug my Agiler three-button USB mouse in, NOTHING!!!
Can anyone please enlighten me as to what I have missed? It must fall into the "bleedin' obvious" category because I was told that one of the benefits of USB was its simplicity.

Did the mouse come with some type of software?

Because not all computers recognize a three button mouse right off the bat.

Have you tried hot-plugging the mouse (plugging it in while Win98 is running)? I've found sometimes that with USB devices plugged in at bootup, Windows doesn't initially recognize the hardware and load the drivers, but when I hot-plug it, it nearly always does.

It's worth a shot at least
