Hello, I was wondering if anybody knows how to install (or if it's possible to do it) IME to type other languages such as Japanese, Chinese, etc. in a computer using Windows XP Home Edition (English) which has Office 2003.
The IME cannot be installed without having Office installed first.
I have one computer using Windows XP and I had already Office XP, so I installed the IME a long time ago, then I upgraded from Office XP to Office 2003 and the IME is still working fine.
I have another computer using the same OS, but I didn't have any Office program installed there, so I installed directly Office 2003, and then tried to install the IME but I get a message saying that I need Office XP to be able to install the IME. Does anybody knows the way around it? (I don't have the Office XP disk with me, only the Office 2003).

Thanx for any help!

no work around's as such

You need to buy the office 2003 proofing tools cd which includes IME.

http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/language/proofingtools.mspx

There was a note in that faqs link i posted.Proofing tools designed for previous versions of Office may not work with Office 2003 Editions or they may have limited functionality. If your proofing tools don't work, please consult the Microsoft Product Support Services.

Note If you have Microsoft Office XP with Proofing Tools for Office XP installed and you upgrade to Office 2003 Editions, your proofing tools will continue to work. If, however, you install Office 2003 Editions and then install Proofing Tools for Office XP, your proofing tools will not work in Office 2003 Editions.

here's a link for Global IME downloads but it doesn't mention anythin abt installin on Windows XP.

dunno if its gonna work.:t

Thank you for your reply. Actually somebody told me how to do it a few minutes ago. In Windows XP the IME is already there, there are many languages to choose from, all I need to do is go to Control Panel>Date,Time, Language, and Regional Options>Regional and Language
Options>Languages>Details>Add and from there you can choose the language you want.:)
