Anyone caught the W32/Cisum-A (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050126/law061_1.html) virus yet?
Aparently it disables firewalls, anti-virus apps and then plays a sound file.
Just rename the attached .txt file to .mp3 to hear it.

Its a crackup. Just imagine it going off in a crowded office :)

First you call me an idiot...then, you rename a file to get it past the forums restrictions for us to access...and possibly acquire a virus?... I may not have all of the smarts many have, but I ain't crazy as he** either.

Gee, I never knew an MP3 could contain a virus. All the info I've looked for on the subject say there is currently no such thing and all reports are hoaxes. Amazing that you seem to know more than the guys at all the major anti-virus companies isn't it.

As for getting around forum restrictions, you have to be kidding right. Given an hour or so I could trawl through the last hundred or so threads and give you several examples of a renamed AVI or WMV, but you seem to have just ignored them. Why is this I wonder?

Anyway, I'm not in the habbit of spreading viruses about, even to idiots. I leave that the the prats who write the things and the idiots who's systems are not adequatley protected and blindly click on every 'yes' button they see.

I can see someone turning this into a truly evil little variant real quick as the mp3 can easily be pulled I'd imagine. Rip the firewall down, boom, insert some coding for a mail server and they wouldn't even know. Instant zombie for someone to sell to some spammer.

I never thought of that.
You could make it do just about anything.

Well I guess I must be the type that "lives on the edge" since I downloaded it and renamed it to a .mp3. Sure enough, it was an mp3. Boy, what an adrenalin rush that was!

Sorry.. I shoulda known better...I will know better from now on.

You need to add a small hint when being funny (unless you are JM), as the whole body language thing that so much of human society and comminucation is based around, is absent from mere black text on a white screen. We have to make allowances for that.

Still, its a funny virus...

Probably not for long though.

Newer machines should cope with exploits like this in their stride, the recent AMD and Intel chipset tweaks should prevent program calls BuT ... the existing older base of machines could be made obsolete overnight.

It wouldn't work on me. I make my own Mp3's. Only fools and noobs download them.

For those too gutless to download the MP3, you can hear it HERE (http://www.csbanana.com/csb_page.banana?page=197)

Its a page created to lure jerks looking for CS Cheats and plays the 'you are an idiot' chior thing over and over.
Uses flash.

I renamed it, worked just fine for me - nothing has gone wrong. Found it rather funny when I heard it earlier - though when I thought about it, it was just as nasty as any other virus since it some fool will most likely come out with what is truly a malignant version. Seems to happen with any virus that gets any publicity.
