OMFG I have tried everything

changing the latency.
Flashing the BIOS.
Reinstalling Windows.
and countless others

DOES ANYBODY HERE HAVE ANY WAYS OF FIXING THIS?!

I'M SERIOUS.
TECH SUPPORT CANT EVEN FIX THIS I NEED A DEDICATED EXTREMELY TALENTED HARDWARE ENGINEER TO HELP ME FIX THIS.

This is the biggest problem I have ever faced.

THIS DIAMOND VIPER V770 ULTRA JUST WONT WORK!!
once again here are the symptems:
1. not being able to change the res and bpp over 640x480x4.
2. 32 bit color depth isn't selectable after installing windows 98.
3. no 3D acceleration detected
4. Blackouts when windows is booted up with out a prompt from the startup menu (i.e. Normal Mode, Safe Mode)
5. Diamond and nVidia drivers DONT DO ANYTHING TO HELP IT.

All of this and yet, windows says it works with no problems.

and yes it is assigned an IRQ of 11.

And I have tried it with out any others using 11 and it STILL WON'T WORK!!!

HZtool doesn't work with it either.

I've reinstalled about 15 times now.
I've exchanged it for another one and it still gave me these problems, so it isn't defective.

The Jumpers ARE set to AGP 2X.

I've called TECH support TWICE and they haven't provided a real solution.
I've tried it on multiple monitors and it still wont work.

I really need a freind to help me fix this.

Please, because I cannot return the card because the 14 day limit has expired.

I wouldn't know how to thank the guy who'd provide the solution.

Please help me.

I am so incredibly desperate.

Please, please help me.

You don't have an INTEL chipset do you?...

I have seen this with VIA and SIS and TxPro motherboards.

If flashing BIOS doesn't help. it's chipset compatibility with your particular revision of chip!

Just some questions. You flashed the bios but did you Clear CMOS and then reset your bios settings?
You do have the latest DirectX installed to support the drivers?
You did get the old drivers removed prior to installing the ones for this card?
If it is non-Intel, did you install the proper VGART patch?
Maybe one of those questions will send you in the right direction.

1. yes, unless you mean discharging the CMOS.
2. yes
3. yes
4. it is an intel motherboard.

OOps.

because I forgot to do that....

can i still do it without screwing the comp over?

And what does it do?

Yes, just make sure you take note of your current bios settings first. Then OFF on the power, short CMOS to discharge for a few seconds, then boot and reset your bios.
It CLEARS everything as far as mobo settings. And sounds like it might be your fix. Maybe http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

What motherboard are you trying to put this into? Brand/model of system? These bits of info might help a great deal to figure out other possible solutions.

Abit BX-6 motherboard and my computer is a self-built.

This happened to me also with my BX6 rev 2 and my V770 ultra. Kept booting to 640 x 480 16 color. No matter what I did this is what happened. What I found is that one of my AGP slot pins was not seated right and the motherboard is not seeing all of your memory. Check your pins on the Agp Port, I had to use a staple to hook the pins and pull them up, and this fixed it. But your problem is definitely that the motherboard is not seeing all 32 megs on your ultra and that is why it will only boot to 640 x 480, probably a faulty pin, check your pins, one may be pushed down.

Do you think it may be an ABIT QA problem?
