Best Multiplayer Games

Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a fun multiplayer game that people still play. IMO, games that have the warcraft 3, starcraft format are fun, but once you play multiplayer, there are those obsessed gamers who perfect every move and really know what they're doing. For me, those games can be pretty painful if you're not an avid gamer, and end up getting worked by the opponent. The games i've been playing include: HL2 deathmatch, CS Source, Halo, Warcraft 3 Custom games, FarCry. <--A lot of FPS games.
What other multiplayer games are you guys playing and that you would recommend? :t

Personally I like Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, C&C Renegade, and other FPS. :t

most of the online games i play are fps.. i hope some game that's like a multiplayer freelancer type of format comes out.. that would be pretty fun

Don't know why ..other than its the most fun for me..and thats Unreal Tournament 2004.

I used to play BF 1942 exclusively, but tired of it( the add on DC is better and real good ) ..and like you are always interested in any good online games....

Alot of people like the strategy type games like W3 and other online..but I never do very well in those ...but love the single player conflicts....;)

Wc3 ladder is the best you should all play it! Dont be a custom baby and just play custom games playe the LADDER thats what the game is all about.

Definately by a long shot counterstrike is the best online multiplayer I've played, then UT2004 then probably Halo.

yeah counterstrike is a top quality multiplayer game.

Just about anything that uses the Quake 3 engine (Quake 3, RTCW, ET etc.), knock Mr Carmack all you want (which i do) when it comes to actually making good games, but the man makes the best MP engines in the business

warhammer 40000 dawn of war has great multiplayer, the team games are so much fun, the graphics are superb for strategy and the gameplay awesome, great game imo

I just got readdicted to that game...i pretty much gave up on CS (again)...im sure ill be back to it soon...

I have never played WC 3 on mutiplayer....

Tell me a bit about it..and why you like it so much...

Oten times I get intimidated while playing RTS games online..or its maybe just a case of getting to afixiated on other games...

Since I do not play LAN games ( just don't have people over to do that where I live ) , normal online is what I do.

Also, I have the Warhammer game and have never played the mutiplayer aspect...and might check that out some.;)

And the SWAT 4 beta is out. I got it and it's sweet! Better than Raven Shield.:eek:

Battlefield 1942 is another cool one. And Ghost Recon. LOL! Guess you can tell my favorite genre.

Thats too bad... I was just looking at those today ...and did not want to wait for two hours from Fileplanet..so I put it off till later..

I did download and get a key for the Sllinter Cell Chaos Theory Multiplayer Beta.... could not resist that one.( favorite game )

I don't believe so..although letes be honest. Most anyone who gets your personal info is privy to its use..regardless.. always best to read the fine print and user agreement if your worried.

Who doesn't get some form of junk mail...

I can see your point from the perspective that I have been getting the GamePro magazine for quite a few months now and I did not order it...nor recall doing so.;)

I just downloaded the beta for Swat 4... Problem is ... I do not have a key nor can I find the link to get one.... can anyone help here as to where I might go and get the key??

i've played america's army before.. I actually played it when it first came out, because it was promoted as a free online game. It's pretty fun, but i haven't played it in a while, and my ranking is super low. Maybe i should start playing that again, but knowing me, i might get addicted again and my grades will surely drop. :p

Guys you can also sign up (free) for the NVidia newsletter. It's how I found out about the SWAT 4 beta. Maybe they send info on other betas when they come out.

The Battlegrounds mod for Half-Life is pretty fun. It's Americans vs Brits in the revolutionary war. The pace is different than most fps's. It's not really slow, but there are important things(such as when to reload) that are important to take into account. It also stresses melee a bit which is nice. It's also pretty balanced between snipers(low dmg, high acc.) mid-ranged weapons(high dmg, low acc.) and close-up fighting(pistol/sword combo which works well).
The game is like DoD in some ways, with each side trying to capture the flag, or one side attacking(for captures) and another defending.

Overall it's pretty fun and addicting.

HL2 Deathmatch is also pretty good depending on the maps. Some really suck, and that includes most of the basic ones, but i've seen some really interesting newer maps that completely change the gameplay.

Also, is Counter Strike a stand alone? Or is it truly a mod for Half Life? I always thought it was stand alone.

Counterstike ..both in the old style and the updated version are also run through the Steam engine and does require the original HL to play and HL2 sells it as an extra ....(and is free with the Gold package purchase and i believe the Silver package deal also.)

In summary,yes you have to have the original game HL 2 to play the latest version...

I downloaded the Battlegrounds Mod for it the other night and have not played it yet..but it has gotten alot of good reviews so far... ( going to check it out this evening );)
