I just made my first audio CD using Easy CD Creator, and it works well in some drives but not others. It works fine in my generic 24x drive and my old Sega CD, but not in my PSX or my fathers CD player. What gives? It closed the session like it was supposed to, and I used Kodak CD-Rs. On a side note, are Memorex CD-Rs decent quality? Thanks for any info...

Go to www.adaptec.com/support/files/udfreaders.html (http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/udfreaders.html) and download a UDF(Universal Disk Format) reader for your dad's comp. This will fix problems with cd-rom drives not being "multi-read".
cdr's are cdr's. Haven't seen any 'bad' cdr
media yet from anybody.

The PlayStation has difficulty reading audio CDs written in the Disc-at-Once mode. If you're using this recording method, try switching to Track-at-Once instead...it should work.

(The reference to your father's CD player is to his home audio system, no?)

Bleeding Edge, you are correct sir. My fathers CD player is a portable stand-alone CD player, not a CD-ROM drive.

I know all too well of the early model Playstation's problems, but do later models have the same problem with audio CDs?

Regular audio CDs should play fine. The problem some PlayStations have, is that it cannot find the beginning (or end) of the audio track well....So...

Once again, if Easy CD is set to record anything other than Track-at-Once (meaning the recording laser burner turns off after each track, leaving a 2 second gap between tracks), setup Easy CD to record with T-A-O and try burning the CD-R again.

About the memorex question. I've been using them quite a bit in my Plextor 8x20 for about a month, ~15 burns, and i haven't had any problems burning them at 8x, both as Audio and Data CDs.

Just cuz you asked.

Thanks Moe, I'll have to pick up a box of them sometime.

As an update, my brother tried the CD in his CD player/radio and his newer playstation, and it worked beautifully. I was using the wizard in Easy CD Creator to make the CD, and it looks like it was already set for "track at once." Thanks guys.

The audio CD I made won't work in most drives. It's worked in like 4 of 10 different drives now, all different types (audio, CD-ROM, console...) I used Easy CD's wizard to make the CD, and it appears it was set for track at once. Any chance someone can tell me each setting that's required? File system, mode, etc... Seems like there's little setting everywhere... Sorry to keep asking like this, but I'm a complete newbie with CD-Rs. Thanks for any help.

that's just a fact of life with burned audio cds. i found car cd players to be the most picky.

the only solution i had was to experiment with different brands of cdr blanks and made sure i burned at 1X speed for audio (a pain in the ****, but it works for one brand).

it seems that no one brand is the best for everybody, but you just have to experiment with your particular setup. what works great for one person, might totally suck for you.

just for your info, i found sony's to be the best, but i just found one cd player (at work) that doesnt like it. i guess i burn a audio cd keeping in mind where i'll be playing it.

we'll just have to live with it til consumer cd makers catch up with the computer world.

Hi! I used aover 50 Memorex CDRs - No problems. I'm now using Imation, and no problem after burning about 20.
