I recently installed a us robotics 56k internal data,fax,voice modem in my system.now all of a sudden 90% of the time when i am online,everything just quits.the modem stops responding,and the computer locks up.I have to shutdown and reboot.Any help or suggestions would be appreciated(system worked fine with my old $25 56k modem)

Could be a driver fault. Have you checked US Robotics Website for any patches that may be out? Have you also checked your Device Manager for conflicts?

Probably IRQ conflict.
Remove all your com ports and modems in Device manager.
Restart.
Get into BIOS, and disable onboard Com 2.
Restart.
Reinstall as necessary.
Usually resolves port problems with lockups.
