I rec'd an ad for this service in the mail yesterday. What is the usefulness of such a service?
"SunRocket, the no gotcha phone company, is bringing Internet Phone Service to mainstream America, setting a new standard for making it easy for consumers to use broadband to enjoy Internet phone savings."

VOip. If you already have broadband check to see the co. you get it from has it and what their prices are.
I have been working the past 6 or so months installing broadband and telco (VOip) as a contractor for a cable co. and it works great.
Come march 5th in this area starts LNP (local number portability) which means you can take your land line # over to VOip so right now it's getting real busy.
Also with VOip from your cable co. you'll have a tech come out and install it interconnect so that your whole house is wired through the existing lines in the home.
The "Gizmo" says specifically in the manual not to install to a home wiring circuit or jack, which limits you to one phone near the unit or having to go out and buying a wireless base station phone system with satellites.

It seems like this requires one to have broadband in the 1st place.
Being on dialup, I am probably out of luck. Considering I pay $32 a month for local service, the savings would have been huge!
