When you connect to your ISP via DUN that little computer/phone/whatever icon shows up in your system tray; it's tooltip displays:

xxxx bytes recieved xxxx bytes sent @ 115200 bps

Well, isn't there a way to get it to report what speed you actually connect at? I just hate having to go to my modem logs to find out.

I find that Windows System Monitor, Dial-Up Adapter: Connection Speed, is more accurate than that systray one. My systray icon (what IS that called anyway?) always reports the same speed.

You might be using the standard modem drivers instead of ones specifically for your modem. My old 33.6 Zoltrix was doing that until I eventually found the correct drivers. Good luck.

Hi
If your useing 98 Click start / control panel / modems / properties /
check max speed set this to your max modem speed not higher. you can end up with a very slow connection if this is set to high.

Add W2 or W0 to your init string in Properties, advanced, extra settings.
