I bought a Maxtor OneTouch II 250GB external HDD and also combo EIO IEEE1394+USB.2.0 card. I have WinXP in my computer. I installed the software (drivers) of the card and both firewire and USB 2.0 ports worked fine. Then I installed the software of the Maxtor HDD. The drive workded as it should with firewire and also when connected by USB 2.0. Only problem is that when using firewire port and when copying large amount of data to Maxtor HDD, the computer tilts totally. Only solution is to switch off the computer. Basically I could use the drive by USB 2.0, but firewire is two times faster. Does anyone has any idea what might be the reason for the tilt of the computer with firewire?

What do you mean by tilt?
What Maxtor software did you install and why?

Firewire is simply better. Use it.

Sorry for my english. I mean the computer totally freezes. I cannot even move the mouse and I cannot shut down the computer in a normal way.

The software that was provided with the HDD. That included a a setup program to install the HDD and a backup program (to make a backup of the content of your files). I just installed the HDD as said in instructions. First I thought that reason is a bug in that backup program but later I found that the computer also freezes when just copying large number of files into HDD and when HDD is connected by firewire.
