CD ROM problem

When I switch on the pc the cd tray opens.
It's pre auto exec and config running, it's not the bios, cable or jumper settings. A different cd drive does the same thing when installed. Any suggestions as to the source of this prob? Thanks.

sounds to me like you have a /? switch in the cdrom loading sequence that is telling the drive to open.

Sadly not, the tray opens on the power up and re opens evry time you try to close the thing. It's got it self open bfore the RAM check is coomplete, well before loading a driver. Thanks.
