Buy a copy of Maximum PC in the store. The CD that comes with it has a slew of benchmark software on it. Also, Ziff Davis has Winstone and Winbench available at their website for a small fee. www.zdnet.com (http://www.zdnet.com) and look around for benchmarks.

one of the most widely used benchmarking utilitys is SISOFT'S Sondra 99 you can download it for FREE and use it (if you pay you can "enable" some of the other advanced benchmarking moduals) from www.download.com (http://www.download.com) and then just do a search for SONDRA.

Enjoy

Try Norton Systemworks

for a 40.00 or so fee you get all kinds of hardware diag's with Anti-virius plus a benchmark utility

The benchmark isn't the greatest made, but gives you a general idea how well your system is running.

The most widly used Benchmarks for the comp are free
Sisoft Sandra (Search for "Sandra" under www.download.com (http://www.download.com) as Mntsnow said

The other one used mostly for 3d Benchmarking is also free (U dont hafta pay unless U wanna enable some tests that dont come with the trial). Look for this at www.3dmark.com (http://www.3dmark.com) . Aside from being really wide used, Its kind of a large download (~20MB if i remember right), It also looks real cool.
