Recently upgraded to STB V4400 and MX300 from
integrated a/v on Gateway G6-350. Now I can't
play DVDs. The cds still play ok except for
an occasional lockup. Tried the software cinemaster and zoran softdvd but the best I
could manage was a brief picture/then black
screen. Also I tried to run Superbike demo
but it causes fatal exception error with no
cause. p2-350
128mb pc100 ram
directX 6.1
V4400 1.60 drivers
mx300 1.02 drivers
anyone have an idea to what the problem is?
thanks

From my expierences with Gateway Computers, if you try to upgrade their systems with components that they don't tell you specifically will work in your system. The new hardware will most likely not work very well if at all. If your system works fine with the old stuff in then map the addresses very carefully and then see if there is a place for these other devices to run in memory. Check for shared DMA's and IRQ's etc....

Good Luck...
