I'm unfortunately having some major cable modem/network problems. I have a D-Link router that is not but 1 week old with a Com21 cable modem. I am the second computer on the home network. We both have the same group ID and I can't understand why I am getting "network cable unplugged" so frequently. sometimes it won't happen for days, other times it will happen every 2 minutes and last for awhile and then quit again for awhile. When I go to the local area connection support tab and go to connection status details I see somethign that says "lease obtained", "lease expires". Could this be the problem as that is the only thing I can think of but am totally clueless as to what that is. Both computers are set up exactly the same as far as automatically detect IP address, etc. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check for a firmware/flash update for your router.

Ok I updated to the latest firmware, but I still have the lease obtained, lease expires thing in the network connection details box. Can anyone tell me what this is?

You will always have a lease obtained/expires in a router.

It lets you decide how often to kick computers off the network and make them reapply for a lease. The shrter the lease, the more traffic on the network.
