I don't know if this helps since I'm still a little new at this TCP/IP ...etc....

Try removing the ipx/spx and tcp/ip.
reboot
install tcp/ip
reboot
configure tcp/ip
reboot
test tcp/ip to see if its working.
install ipx/spx only if an app really requires it.
if after all this it still doesn't work
install netbeui and netbios.

installing all protocols can't hurt and may even help configuration problems in the future.

you maybe binding the tcp/ip wrong check under properties of Network Neighboorhood, there should be a checkbox.

also make sure on the prop. screen you have the right 'clients for net.....' installed.

That about covers everything I know, can't help you further without knowing what you have each individual setting set as.

Good Luck.

This may have nothing to do with your problem, but I just figured out why my network wasn't working. It all had to do with my overclocking a Celeron 300a on one machine. At 300 mhz, network ran fine, OC the 300a to 374mhz, it was hit and miss if it would work, and was mostly a miss.

Now I have it OC to 474 and it works great. I have no idea why though

benp,

if most of the problms you're have are with the Netware stuff, it might be because you have to do the binding for TCP/IP on the server, not by machine.

Here's a link for loads of Novell Info:

Hello, we have quite a few microns here with the 3c905tx nic card. About 50% of the time they work properly. However the other half of the time they just don't bind with tcp/ip. The computer is a p200mmx, 32mb ram, 3c905tx 3com nic. On one computer right now there is Netware Intranet client, ipx/spx protocol, and tcp/ip. However the tcp/ip isn't binding to anything, so all programs that require tcp/ip do not work. I have tried removing tcp/ip, restarting adding it again etc... It doesn't bind. Have you heard anything like this, this is under windows95. Usually after formatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows95 everything works right, however we can't do that on all the machines. Hope you can help, thanks a lot!

I'm with chrisT on this one. Your problems are likely with the Netware client software. It takes over all of the network drivers and protocols. I've had some serious fights with it in the past. Make sure you have the most current version, if you can, and perhaps try reinstalling it if you really have to have it. If you can get away with it, you might want to try Microsoft's Netware clients. That is a hard call without knowing more about the Network servers you have to connect to.
