hmmm i have a cm100 cable modem and i want to use it in my network when i called the ISP they said that it will only work on one computer but is this true on nortels homepage they say that it has 16ports to connect it to a network but can these be disabled ?? or can i simmply use 2 NICs in the comp and use one of them for the cablemodem and the other for my LAN ?? and thus sharing this modem via wingate or something??

by the way this post should be in the networking section but i dont know if guys are reading those posts that are in there so im gona put it here

It is a cable modem not a network modem. I recommend getting a true blue networking card for each computer you got and hook them up. If you want all your computers to connect to the internet through the one computer with the cable modem then you have to set up a server and a networking hub and and and...

ive decided to use 2 NICs one for the incoming signal from the modem and one for my LAN

a router does not work i think because the modem is software controlled but im not sure
