Win98 is bootable, if your mobo supports it. Setup will help you partition and format.

Pretty nice feature isn't it Jbob? Nice not having to mess with a boot disk!!!

Z,
I've never used generic drivers but that's certainly a way to go. Or if you know what your CDROM is, just go to the website and download them;~)

I just got a new IBM 14.4 7200rpm(not that that matters) hdd, and I'm gonna install win98 on it. The drive is totally bare, and I don't really know where to start. Do I neeed a win98 startup disk and the win98 cd?
then do I just boot, install an active partition, and then windows will give me the option for FAT32 or what.. I'm gonna partition the drive later using partmagic, cause I don't know the sizes that I want now.
If anyone can give me some help for this I would really appreciate it. A website would also be very nice.
Thanks,
Z

You need both the boot disk and the CDROM.
When you go into fdisk, it'll ask if you want large disk support. For FAT32, you say YES.
Then you'll need to install your CDROM drivers, and then you can install win98 from the CD.
