About 1/4 of the time after I power on my FIC PA-2007 AT machine I have to hit the reset button for it to come on. The machine is also experiencing some other flaky behavior. If I sign on using my daughter's profile, sometimes the hourglass just spins and it won't come up (she has a desktop theme) and other times it does. If I bypass the login, the machine comes up (no theme). I checked the theme - everything was as it should be. The past two months I'm getting really scratchy sound when playing WAV files, CD-ROM music I think is okay. Once I booted and everything on the display was way out of focus - it was totally bizarre! The shutdown screen was lime green! I rebooted and everything was fine. I build systems as a hobby so I know what I'm saying doesn't really have a pattern so I'm not expecting too much advice. All I can think is that the power supply is going bad or my mobo is having grounding problems. My AT case and power supply are 2.5 years old and totally generic.
Any ideas appreciated.

I think you were right on - I actually moved my Graphics Blaster Exxtreme (2D/3D) to a different PCI slot (pressing firmly) and my Matrox m3D to another slot and I haven't experienced the problem again. Thanks.

Power supply failures are more spectacular. You boot and either the computer won't post, or it crashes immidiately after the video card screen. Usually need a new motherboard, processor and ram. Happened to my old computer. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I had a similar problem awhile back. The PC would take two or three resets to boot up. It was doing weird things too. The lime green screen is exactly what I got when trying to shut down. My problem was with the video card. It was not seated properly. You may want to remove the card, clean the connectors and reseat it if you haven't already tried that.
