I think this is a big news... ok here it goes.

The flashlight will be mounted to the marines helmet. :D :t

I'll be interested to see what this looks like:

The other is being termed the Ionized Levitation Weapon, otherwise known as the "grabber gun," which has more than a passing resemblance to Half-Life 2's gravity gun.

Maybe a little something like this:

One fo the few things i liked about Doom 3 was the whole flashlight system as a tension builder - one of the few original parts to the game, particularly where scares were concerned (no Mr Carmack, spawning a creature behind me when i pass a trigger point isnt particularly original, or scary for that matter). Shame it'll be gone.

It smacks of "more of the same" and with so many gripes over the original Doom 3, i cant see this one making its way onto the HDD

Well, I read somewhere that you won't get your hazard suit until half-way into the game. So you'll still have plenty of time to work up your carpol-tunel switching back and forth between your shotgun and your flashlight :t

I just hope they push the D3 engine more. That engine has so much potential, and as of right now D3 just seems to laking compared to what it could be. I want to see some massive outdoor missions, dynamic per-pixel lighting, and less scripting and more AI.

Then wait for Quake 4. :D :t

Doom 3 actually disapointed me a little, but I'll still probably end up buying the expansion.

Yeah, from what I've heard id is trying to make it a better game. I just hope it's just as long or longer and has a better storyline, plus the above-mention improvements that I listed :p

Add on....improvement or just some things as always some gamers don't like ...I am still getting this when it comes out.....

The same plus more added baddies and the graphics look real good as always....how can you miss...or get hung over all the technical details before its even released....? You know you will get it anyways...just because of the stir..and then everybody will have it and be raving about it mostly.

If a movie has three parts, your not going to get the boxed set minus the one that did not quite live up to your expectations,or a novelette or shorter books where one missed defeats the whole story or plot.

Actually, it seems to depend to alot of people whether they made this for the enjoyment,or just to appease the masses..... In any case, I laud someone for wanting to continue this in some way...although for most, a D 4 would have been preferable to the former.

Your out of luck there. Read the quote below. It is near the area where the article speaks about the Gravity Gun.

In terms of length, id estimates that the single-player campaign will run about half the length of Doom 3...

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

I will not buy another ID title until it reaches bargain bin prices for the rest of my life. D3 was enough of a let down to make me lose faith in what I thought was one of the best developers in the business. I won't pay 55 bucks for a tech demo ever again.

Because of one game your saying that  they are still one of the best developers in the business, look at Valves Record they have had some pretty bad games come out over the last few years just as ID had. And to be honest that’s really your own fault for following all the hype that D3 had, there is not one game that lives up to media Hype not even HL2 came close to what they made of it.

If this doom is shorter than the original D3 if its not under 25 bucks I will not buy it that’s to short of a game for my liking, “Then” Ill wait for a price drop, if the game was as long as D3 id buy it in a heart beat.

How in the world is D 3 a letdown.... just because you spent the full amount of $55.00 it?

The game was good and very much satisfied me as to the expectations and gameplay.... still..a very underrated game that did not even make thwe top ten...very odd

As gamers we all have varying degrees of taste and or what we like in a game and thats a fair opinion.....but again just one.

I do not as my nature tend to judge game makers on a critical momentem..just because they did not appease my soul.

So what the AI might be a bit scripted..or it was dark as intended for obvious effect.... I like games that are more open ended ..outdoors a bit more and better AI...but this was a Doom game..not FarCry or some other...

I waited a bit and got the game for around $37.00 ..and it was worth it ......

I like Doom 3. I have not even finished it yet because I simply do not play games that much. I just entered Delta Labs 3 and I started playing on December 25. (Got it as a gift for Christmas).

I would buy the expansion. When I finish Doom 3 I am going to start playing Painkiller.
