:t I was cleaning up some files in my computer when I came across this file gdiplus.dll sitting by itself on my C: drive. What is the purpose of this file and what is it used for ?

I read something about the .Net Framework ?

Right-click the file and select Properties. Check the publisher. If it's MS, it's safe.

That is a Windows file. Here is a little reading on it.

That file should be in C:\WINNT\system32\

Part of Microsoft GDI+ System DLL, hence C:\WINNT\system32\

Check for older versions of this file in applications that use the exploitable version and delete them as they will share the updated version in C:\WINNT\system32\

Latest version is 5.1.3102.1360
