I'm building a small shuttle pc. My budget for the CPU is $100.00-$150.00. My main application for my pc will be for multimedia applications. Heat will also have to be a consideration because of the small area available inside these types of systems. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. :D

Is there a way I can build a small shuttle type pc w/wireless lan built-in included. I want to use a Pentium4 3.0 CPU if possible. Is this price point realistic? I have my own hard drive, graphics card and DVD recorder/player and mem. Anything lower then $350.00 would be great. I'm trying to beat a co-worker who says he can build one for that much. Even if it's for $1.00 less I would win! heheheh:D Thanks for any tips in advance. :t

Merged threads. You are asking the same basic question.

A P4 "C" would be the best bet. The 3.0Cs are still pretty expensive, about $200 on newegg. You could look at a 2.4C instead and overclock that. $137 at newegg.

what kind of memory do you have? unless it's good stuff, you might not get that much of an OC.

An AMD XP system would be way cheaper. You could get a mobile 2500 or 2600+ then overclock it.

A mobile Barton would probably be the best choice for putting inside a shuttle...less voltage...and less heat. May even get a bit of headromm to overclock it a bit...still keeping it reasonably cool.

Personally I like the idea of a 2.4C Pentium 4. :t
