When you loose that one and it's full up you really eat it. Steve R Jones 01-04-2005, 01:47 PM Looks like it's a no-name brand... For another 50 bucks you can get sata and three years.. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=22-144-359&DEPA=0 CrazyCrusher 01-04-2005, 04:47 PM the model number comes up as a maxtor but it dosent say its a max, does that mean they have a bunch of bad drives they want to junk? j.m@talk 01-04-2005, 04:51 PM Originally posted by Steve R Jones Looks like it's a no-name brand... At work right now, will have to follow up with more research later. Is that one year warranty Office Depot's or Maxtor's? j.m@talk 01-04-2005, 05:08 PM Ahh Good ole UK .......... Electrical goods gotta have minimum 12M Gtee no matter how its sold...........:t RamonGTP 01-15-2005, 02:49 AM If you look at the product details, it says that the brand name is Maxtor and the manufacturer is maxtor. oops, didn't realize this thread was two weeks old... I guess posts in here don't move along quite as rapidly as the other forums tweakerpc 01-15-2005, 04:26 PM i do not like maxtor, they are nosiy:rolleyes: ukulele 01-15-2005, 06:56 PM Originally posted by tweakerpc i do not like maxtor, they are nosiy:rolleyes: Noise? You don't like the noise? I worry about it when my drives don't make noise. ;) tweakerpc 01-15-2005, 10:02 PM It is not the niose, it is the type of noise, to me it is fingernails on a chalk board:eek:  ukulele 01-15-2005, 10:54 PM I have three maxtors and can barely hear any of them. Now the Seagate SATA is loud, but the extra speed is worth it. Lord AnthraX 01-17-2005, 07:25 PM Even better deadl http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101220-1 Never had a problem with WD, only Maxtor's and IBM's. sm8000 01-17-2005, 07:31 PM So for three dollars less I can lose 50GB? That's great! Lord AnthraX 01-17-2005, 09:00 PM Originally posted by sm8000 So for three dollars less I can lose 50GB? That's great! The new price is $259.97 for a 300Gb NON-SATA insted of 146$ for a 250Gb SATA tweakerpc 01-17-2005, 09:32 PM Hey i like my western digital! sm8000 01-17-2005, 10:21 PM Originally posted by Lord AnthraX The link was meant to contradict the First one, not the second NewEgg link. The new price is $259.97 for a 300Gb NON-SATA insted of 146$ for a 250Gb SATA Dang, I didn't see that my price had gone back up. My bad. I only said it 'cuz it's what my thread's about ;) BTW, there's little, if any, advantage to SATA. It's still ATA ;) Lord AnthraX 01-17-2005, 10:58 PM SATA can be used for RAID assemblies and it has a little bigger cache usually. sm8000 01-17-2005, 11:55 PM All ATA can do RAID ;) Go look at the IDE RAID controllers offered by Promise, Highpoint, 3ware, and SIIG, for example. I think SATA's only advantages are (in some cases) the bigger cache, and the one drive per cable to prevent the locked bus issue that is part of the ATA spec. SysOpt.com
