Hi all,
just bought HL2 on DVD from the local ASDA (Wallmart) got it home and opened the box to find the dvd and just a slip of paper with quick reference details on it? no manual etc and no cd key! Ive checked under the outer sleeve "just in case" but still found nothing. The game was selected from the shelf at the store and was empty, due to "security measures", and the assistant took the empty case and placed the dvd etc in it. Is there supposed to be an actual manual ? and is the cd key printed in this or elsewhere? Any one shed any light on this before I go back to the shop and shout at some innocent assistant?

Thanks

Happy Joe

A manual is not included. My key was on one of the cd disc envelopes. Hope you have a fast connection, the unlocking/registration/update could take up to several hours if you use dialup.
The DVD may use a different system than the CDs, try it and see. If it requires a missing key or come back as registered return it immediately.
Enjoy!

Well..., took it back today, and they exchanged it . no problem for one with the cd key on a sticker inside the case. Got it home and tried it and......"cd key already in use" ---****!!!!
Going to take it back and get a refund and get it from somewhere else where the case is sealed !!!

lol unlucky you :)
when i lived in london i bought battlefield once . . . 2 numbers from the cdkey were "scratched" away and u cudnt see them anymore

i was to lasy to go back to the shop so i called EA
they gave me a new cd key on the phone, i liked that
just had to give them some details and numbers on the cd etc so they cud check if i really bought the game

i ordered hl2 at amazon, at least there u can go sure that no one had the game before you

I'd never shop at that store again.

if I was you I would ask to speak to a district manager, who knows what scum bag at the store is doing that, if you give it to the desk clerk the manager will not here about it.

Sounds like you've been had. I'd defiantly ask for a refund and find a new vendor to buy my game from.

I actually know someone that goes into wal-marts and opens the boxes of games and takes the CD-Key out of them or writes them down, then sells them for 2 bucks.

Makes me furious.

well i finallymanaged to get a copy that hadn't been tampered with and am now happily playing hl2. I told the store manager about what had been happening but he didn't seem to grasp how much of a pain in the **** it is to keep returning there over and over. I wont be going there again for any software thats for sure.
