Linux compatable with Voodoo3 card?

The subject basically says it all. This weekend I was building a machine having the new 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 vid card and it works great under Win98 but when I try to configure the X server for linux it cant start X windows. It tells me that the configuration is wrong. (You only set up two things the card and the monitor. I didn't mess up the settings on the monitor.) Any ideas?
